Lights Out

Hurricane Ike has come and gone however in its aftermath a big part of the area is without electricity. My brother's friend suggested a trip to Louisiana, but we all stayed in town and played cards by the light of a wind up flashlight. Strange enough, life without electronics is refreshing. The humidity is down and Mom is frying up anything and everything on the stove that is thawing from her two freezers. I purchased a head lamp and plan on diving into a couple of big titles that I have been saving up for a rainy day. Right now, my brother and I type on laptops from a nearby Burger King that has a free Wi Fi Lounge with the Saturday night football game playing on a flat screen. When we return to camp, we put up enough battery powered paper lanterns to have a lights show. It could be fun but the lights won't be back on for at least another two weeks. Hopefully the ghosts and whatever that might go bump in the dark will be gone by then too.

You left a message on our Blog - www.camkids.blogspot.com.

Not sure if this is a hoax or not and can't find any way to contact you and so am leaving a message here.

Try searching Google or Wikipedia for some or all of the following:

Cambodia, Khmer Rouge, genocide, Vietnam War, Illegal 'Operation Menu' bombings of Cambodia by the USA in the 1960s and 1970s, Watergate (resulting from covering up the bombing), Nixon's "peace with honor" involvement of Cambodia as a means of extricating the US from the Vietnam war, US veto of removing Khmer Rouge as holders of the Cambodian seat at the UN until 1993 despite having killed 2 million or 25% of the Cambodian population between 1975 and 1979, US economic and aid embargo of Cambodia until late 1990's, etc etc etc

Should be enough to give you an idea why my adopted daughter was orphaned through poverty and millions of children like her still live in dire poverty in families who have to survive on less than 50 cents per day.

We are not a political charity - we are just responding to a great need. If we started spouting the reasons for the poverty, we would probably alientate all of our US supporters as it is impossible to explain the current situation in Cambodia woithout having to point the finger fairly and squarely at the US administration from 1965 to 1993 (and beyond, if you include failing to pay reparation to the families of those who suffered).

See William Shawcross' excellent book, 'Sideshow', written in 1979 and nominated for a Pullitzer prize.

All the best

Mark, CamKids Chairman

What exactly are your credentials? Despite the berth of your blog: http:/camkids.blogspot.com, it lacks substance or genuine concern. Dating service included, your charity looks like a white slavery auction block for innocent children victims of a londstanding political crisis. Most likely these children have parents who are afraid to venture out of their immediate surroundings. Your organization is an insult to them. Thank you for the google search. If you view my profile, it is plain as day that I can be reached at blue_mojito@yahoo.com.
